I think this is a very fair and reasonable question. I certainly would not write without my family’s consent and blessing.

It was actually my eldest daughter who initially suggested I write a blog – she said she’d realised over the years since it all happened that I wasn’t unique and she thought it would be therapeutic for me to have an outlet.

My husband has read my writing too, nothing is secret from any of my family (the alias is to protect my professional identity far more than my personal one).

I’m not sure how they’d be embarrassed. Everyone knows what happened, how and why. Taking ownership of my behaviour is a huge part of what healed my relationships with my family in the first place. They wouldn’t make it bedtime reading every night (!) but they have said they’re proud of my ability to be honest and self-reflective.
